Martha is annoyed, Trudy is feeling neglected, Hermione cried uncle three weeks ago ~ and me? I’ve just been trying to stay afloat!
Things have been quiet around the blog and on social channels here for some weeks, as my return to corporate America sucked up all my time and energy for a while. I think the tide may be turning, and I can start making peace now with the parts of life that have been on hold, while all my time and energy went into the professional channel.
We all have many parts that make up the whole ~ family, work, faith, creativity, play ~ and maintaining balance among the parts is never easy. Some things get neglected for a while when there are changes and shifting priorities, and then things change again and there’s to reset.
Over the years, friends and family assigned me various nicknames ~ Martha, Monica, Hermione, Trudy and others ~ which to me are almost real people. They are personas to my parts, and help me know what needs adjusting when things get off kilter ~ and sort of how Bluwatergal came about! Neglecting the domestic stuff at home? Martha gets annoyed and requires her time to get things put back in shape. Flying by the seat of your pants? Monica from FRIENDS will show up and start to plan and obsess over every detail. Hermione is the resourceful one, named for HARRY POTTER fame, and all the things she can pull out of her bag. Trudy is creative, Scout likes her adventures, and Jane needs her quiet time to recharge. Right now, they are all on the outs with me!
There has been time for a little fun the past few weeks ~ after all, it’s my favorite time of year. Bluwaterguy and I’ve gone to some spring festivals, dropped by Scott’s Antique Market last weekend, and ventured down to Ponce City Market. That’s been good for Scout and Trudy, but Jane and Martha were left out. Hard to please everyone with limited time!
Next week, we are taking a few days for some Tybee time, and visiting for the Tybee Island Wine Festival. A little time at the ocean will make everyone feel better! And give me some blog material, while finishing up projects that were started and then put on hold while I’ve worked long days professionally.
I’m not complaining, truly. I’m #fortunate to have found a great professional opportunity, and having regular income with other benefits again is a nice bit of security. I hope my bluwaterpals will understand that I’ve navigated a bit of rough water, and I’ve missed sharing my bluwaterlife. The chop in the channel will smooth out once I get into open water. In the meantime, I’m staying afloat and trying to stay in sight of land, looking forward to getting back into a regular stroke, and giving everyone their due time.
Hear that Martha, Hermione and Co? We’ve got a bluwatergetaway on the horizon and that will make everyone happy! See you all here with a new post after we’re back home. Happy floating y’all ~~~
