Welcome 2016! The first week of 2016 is winding down, Christmas has been sorted and stored, and it’s been a good week to look back ~ and look ahead. Last year I joined my blogging friends in finding a word as a personal theme or focus for the new year ~ #oneword365 ~ and I’m doing the same thing again this year.
There’s been fun stuff around here in the past year, and I shared some of the favorites in the year’s top blog posts earlier this week.
There have also been some big events ~ a new job for me this fall, a milestone birthday for Bluwatermom early in the year, and almost losing Bluwaterguy’s house in the middle of the night during the summer. The new job is going well, Bluwatermom is feeling good and looking forward to her next birthday later this month, and Bluwaterguy is back in his new and improved house. It wasn’t always easy, but we were always fortunate as things worked out.
I thought about the past year as I was cleaning, sorting, and storing for the new year. Especially as I was doing some of it at Bluwaterguy’s. Lots of unpacking, sorting and cleaning to do there, getting back into his house, but it will get done ~ one bit at a time ~ starting with this one table.
A few things I like ~ tarnished silver, a painted shell, orchids, candles ~ and favorite jewelry I was wearing that day. A few things put back in their place, and one more thing put back to right in our world.
My word for 2015 was “present” ~ as in, be present in the moment. It helped me to appreciate the moments as they passed, and I was present more than not last year. And appreciating the moment brings me to this year. My word for 2016 is “fortunate”.
We have our homes, our health, our families, good jobs and comfortable lives. It certainly has not always been this way, and there are some struggles I would prefer to forget. Now, we can journey to places we love, enjoy good food and drink, work hard and have fun too. We are fortunate now, in ways large and small.
I’m fortunate to have this blog as place to collect and share bits of the present and past from our life enjoyed. To revisit things with all our friends, family, and bluwaterpals. Most of the time it’s fun, sometimes it’s work, and I don’t take any of it for granted. I’m fortunate, and that’s my #oneword365 for 2016.
Thanks for being part of bluwaterlife and cheers to the new year y’all ~~~

Bobbi, what a great post. Thank you, as always, for putting life in perspective. Wishing you many blessings this year and fingers crossed for your Tigers on Monday.
I’ll call you this week to chat before we leave for Tybee. Right now, we are wading through boxes and wardrobes and trying to finish packing. We need this beach break!
Much love, Fran

Hi Fran ~ I have been thinking about you and your whirlwind new year. Your trip looked amazing and I can’t wait to hear more about it! I believe packing and moving may be Dantes 5th circle, but there is light in the end. May the force be with you! Looking forward to chatting and catching up. I hope we will be in Tybee in February, so may get to sit on the beach together ~ that would be a great treat! Glad you liked the post and thanks for the good wishes. Last, but certainly not least, Goooo Tigers!! Bwg ~~~
