It’s the first official day of fall, and though I’m still enjoying some warm weather, it’s nice to have a few fall decorations around the house. I’ve shared my fall door and my fall table arrangement. Now here’s an easy pennant banner that I plan to “enjoy” straight through ’til Thanksgiving!
I found the small wood pennant pieces on clearance during a random walk-about in Michael’s. I bought them without really knowing how I would use them, though the thought of a banner did cross my mind. Once the inspiration struck, I printed the “enjoy” letters and flourishes on card stock in a favorite font ~ freehand lettering is not my friend these days!
Then I used the wood pieces to trace the size and shapes around the letters, used some craft brown card stock for layering, and trimmed the edges with deckle-edge craft scissors. I attached the layered card stock pieces to the wood pieces with double-sided tape, so I can swap them out for other looks when the mood strikes down the road.
Threading some burlap ribbon through the twine on the wood pieces for hanging made for a quick and easy finish. To check out the finished banner, I put it temporarily on the mantle, though I ended up adding it to the curtains in the dining area.
I have some baking planned next week, and there are football games and tailgating all next month, so October will go by in a blur! There’s a girls’ weekend in November and I may yet get a “coast is clear” bluwatergetaway to a beach or an island. I may yet start to like this season called fall!
