We’re always happy with tacos or pizza, so this Taco Pizza recipe is a new combo favorite. I always liked a similar pizza at our local CPK, and I wanted to come up with something along the same lines.
Ordinary grocery store ingredients and ready in about 30 minutes. Easy supper time meal for 4 to 6 ~ and any leftovers heat up perfectly in a skillet or oven! This would be great for a vacation dinner when you want to cook-in after a day on the beach. Tried this out last weekend visiting while Bluwatermom, and it’s going on my next bluwatergetaway menu too!
Bluwaterguy was a good sport, patiently letting me snap a few pics before getting his dinner. Of course his beer helped pass the time! I topped my slice like a standard taco ~ lettuce, tomato and sour cream. He went for tomato, onion and guacamole. Mom went with lettuce, tomato and onion. Everybody can make it their own. 🙂 And a few margaritas would be good too ~~~
Easy Taco Pizza ~
Ingredients
One 13.8-oz can Pillsbury classic pizza crust dough
1 lb ground beef
1 pkg taco seasoning
One 16 oz can refried beans
1/2 cup picante sauce
1/4 cup sliced green or black olives
8 oz grated cheese {sharp cheddar, colby, pepper jack ~ use one or a combo}
Toppings
Diced tomato {about 1 cup, 1 large tomato or 2 medium sized}
Shredded lettuce {iceberg is my fave for tacos, 1/4 head}
Diced onion (1 medium yellow onion)
Sour cream
Gucamole
Salsa
Directions
~ Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. Prep a rectangular baking pan with non-stick cooking spray ~ I’ve used 10 x 15 and 12 x 15 pans with this crust. Roll out dough onto the pan and form to the pan, pinching the edge to form a slight edge crust.
~ Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat, about 10 minutes. Stir in the taco seasoning. Set aside.
~ Mix the refried beans and 1/4 cup picante sauce until combined in a bowl. Spread the mixture onto the unbaked crust and top with remaining 1/4 cup picante sauce. Scatter the browned beef and olives over the crust. then top with the cheese. Bake according to crust package directions ~ 15-18 minutes, or until the crust is lightly browned and the cheese is melted and slightly browned. Allow to cool 2-3 minutes and slice into squares ~ makes approximately twelve 3″ squares.
~ While the pizza is baking, prep your favorite toppings ~ tomatoes, lettuce, onions, sour cream, guacamole, salsa and more! Serve pizza and toppings at the table so everyone can top their own. Enjoy!
Check out our Grilled Pizza too! A different take on pizza, with all fresh ingredients. I never met a pizza I didn’t like 🙂 Bwg ~~~
