It’s our Thursday Night Social time ~~~
Happy “Friday Eve” ~ and I hope you’re having a happy week!
This is my favorite cocktail hour each week, and I’m already looking ahead to the weekend. As usual, for our virtual social time let’s start with a beverage, shall we? Last week we went off my usual rum/tequila/vodka path and shared gin cocktails, for Bluwaterguy our favorite gin drinker. This week with the Kentucky Derby coming up, let’s take a look at some bourbon cocktails too! Maybe mix up a batch for a Derby party, wear your best event hat and toast with some friends.
Let’s start off with some of my favorite flavors ~ mint, lemon and tea ~ in this Sweet Tea Mint Julep from spicysouthernkitchen.com I think I could drink these by the pitcher ~~~
And because I’ve never met a citrus drink I didn’t like, this Clementine Mint Julep looks like a great twist on the classic from onemartini.com ~~~
This Pineapple Mint Julep looks super refreshing too from lynseylovesfood.com ~~~
Or maybe for a spicier version, try this Spicy Pineapple Mint Julep with jalapeño infused simple syrup from justputzing.com ~~~
If you’re not a julep fan but like bourbon, this updated Blood Orange Ritz Old-Fashioned from supergoldenbakes.com could be a new classic ~~~
And for something a little lighter, this Grapefruit Bourbon Spritz from domesticate-me.com has my name all over it ~~~
The Kentucky Derby is always run just around my birthday, so it’s a great time to celebrate some things ~ spring, birthdays, and horses, are all favorites! Add in a new cocktail and it’s sure to be a fun time. I hope you find something new here to try for your Derby day or just to celebrate spring or summer. They all look good to me and could even get me in a new bourbon groove!
That’s our Thursday Night Social time and hope to see you again next week ~~~
