It’s officially Christmas Island 2014, when I put my mele kalikimaka trees out on display. Y’all have already seen them this year with my ribbon tassel gift wrap from our holiday week, but I had to bring them back for their own post. 🙂
It’s the week before Christmas, and once again in spite of my best intentions, my shopping and wrapping are not quite done, there are still crafts to do, and things to bake, all before hitting the road for the holiday. Oh and I’m in a professional seminar ALL this week that is truly causing my brain to hurt, AND there is a test at the end!! Yikes!
That’s why it’s nice to come home and look at my trees that make me happy for lots of different reasons ~~~
These colors just say “don’t worry, be happy” ~ though these trees got their start a few years ago when there were lots of worries and things were far from happy. I did recover, but I still have the implanted hardware and scars to show for it. Thanks to Bluwatermom, I survived to tell the tale! We’ve added to these trees every year since then. The Surfin’ Santa and Christmas Dolphin were part of last year’s bluwatergifty treasure trove.
The stingray was new last year from me to me, and the blue crab was a Bluwatermom gift a few years ago. Everyone plays well together. I obsessed (shocking, I know!) figuring our how many of what size, and which shape and what style to go in each spot on the trees!
I see a lot of years of fun adventures, thoughtful gifts and happy moments when I look at these ornaments. Not your typical Christmas tree but it works for me!
Love that there is a mermaid on the tree!
It’s a tradition on the blog at this point to do a holiday post about these trees. And this year I’ve got a NEW tradition to share too, with some photos guaranteed to make you smile ~ and it will be here on the blog on Saturday. Hope you’ll stop by for a visit to see what’s new for Christmas Island 2014! I think you’ll really like it! See you soon ~~~
