Don’t you love it when you get lucky and find the perfect match? I feel that way about Old Town Manor ~ the bed & breakfast we stayed in during the Key West stop on our Florida Keys road trip .
I knew what I wanted in Key West and checked places from previous visits ~ but nothing was working out for dates, location and cost.
I found Old Town Manor on Instagram, and loved the photos of the property. Called them, and it was meant to be! Got the dates and room I wanted, at a great post-Labor Day rate. Boo~yah!
Still, having stayed in a lot of B&B’s over the years ~ and especially in the Keys ~ it’s easy to be disappointed. So, can I tell you how thrilled we were when we pulled up at the Manor?!! I mean check out this porch! PERFECT bluwaterstyle ~ swoon!
You know I took advantage of these rocking chairs. My love of a good porch rocker is second only to my love of a good hammock.
We had a lovely welcome at check-in, and this was the view headed to our room! The patio gardens are just gorgeous. Breakfast alfresco in the midst of this tropical beauty was the perfect way to start the days ~ well, that and good coffee 🙂 .
Now just a bit about our room ~ we stayed in the Saratoga room, which is in the renovated carriage house. I requested this room after checking the photos and options online. It was huge! And after staying in small spots on the way down, and spending a lot of time on the road, having the space to spread out was like switching to yoga pants from tight jeans. Just say, ahhhh! Here’s the entrance to our room, with our own door light {love that!} ~ and all the rooms are keyless entry.
We had a king bed, a separate twin bed, a sitting area, desk, fridge and a private patio. And we took advantage of every single spot!
I’ve never lost my adolescent love of horses, and this art work gave me a smile. I mean, we were staying in the carriage house, right? But a very stylish carriage house with WiFi, a flat screen tv, a memory foam mattress and daily housekeeping. I could get used to this.
While I was taking some quick photos of our room, Bluwaterguy looked at the bathroom and said, “when you see this shower, you’ll want to live here”. He knows me well! After tiny bathrooms and showers with barely room to stand {much less turn around} on boat trips and in some places we’ve visited, a full shower with places to sit and aromatherapy spa products is a HUGE bonus. Guess who got the first shower?
And yes, our private patio from the inside ~~~
And our private patio from the the outside ~~~ loved the hand painted wisteria mural around the door.
There were several water features in the gardens, and the sound of water adds to the tropical feel.
We loved this property so much we extended our stay an extra day. The staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful all during our stay. This was a great location just off Duval Street. We walked everywhere we went, except for driving to the KW airport for our Ft.Jefferson adventure. The party scene on Duval can get rowdy, but our room was peaceful and quiet.
We were guests like any other. I booked online, paid the full going rate for our stay, and will certainly be back. I’m sharing my photos and opinions here as so many folks have asked about our Key West stay, and this is not meant as a “hotel review” ~ just my personal experience. When I find a perfect travel match, I have to share it!
And I left a splash of bluwaterlife at the Manor until my next visit. If you notice this fridge magnet while you are getting your breakfast, let them know you’re one of our Bluwaterpals! Can’t wait to return. Like the song says, “I want to go back to the island” ~ especially when I can live like this!
Our Florida Keys road trip series continues. there are still pirate treasures, literary treasures and national treasures to share, so I hope to see you next week!
