It’s National Margarita Day!
I don’t know how various holidays get established, but this one gets my vote.
Buffett concert tickets for my town went on sale today, and I spent the morning wrangling various devices to (successfully!) score tickets, so of course I was thinking about margaritas. And then I realized I hadn’t shared my house margarita recipe on the website, so let’s take care of that shall we ~~~
In general margarita terms, I’m happy whether rocks or frozen, salt or not, traditional or new flavors ~ but my bluwaterlife house margarita has a few specifics ~
1) It’s easy to make and we keep the ingredients always on hand
2) I use key lime juice and lemon juice, so the color is pale yellow rather than green or white
3) When I do a salted rim, it’s minimal and I like the Stirrings margarita rimmer for its clean sea salt taste
bluwaterlife house margarita
1 1/2 oz Tequila ~ gold or white
1 oz Cointreau or Triple Sec
1 oz lemon juice
1/2 oz key lime juice
1 oz simple syrup
Add to a cocktail shaker with a few ice cubes ~ 20 shakes
Strain into a Margarita glass ~ salted rim
~ or ~
Strain into a DOF glass with fresh ice cubes
This recipe and my other favorite drinks are on the bluwaterlife bar cards for download from The Loot page. I mixed up a frozen and rocks version for the photo this afternoon. Bluwaterguy is at work, so I guess I will have to drink them both and call it research. It’s never too early to start practicing from my Tiki Bar Tailgate 2014!
Cheers y’all ~~~
