Mele kalikimaka from my Christmas island ~ home to a few new traditions and some long-standing ones.
Lots of decorations collected over the years, but my tropical ornament trees are always a favorite. I collected enough ornaments to do the first tree in 2009, when I was recovering from a nasty collection of broken bones. I will always remember that Christmas with Bluwatermom. Finding a few new ornaments every holiday season has been a tradition now for many years.
There were some special ornaments that had been on my list for a long time, but we could never find them to buy until this year when they finally showed up online. Hurrah! So Bluwatermom gifted the ones that were the most wanted, including the holiday dolphin, mermaid and shells. And I found the Surfer Santa on a late night gift wrap run to Target! That meant there were enough now to do the second tree ~ pairs are always a nice thing 🙂 .
The original tree had pirates and boats and treasure. The new one has divers and mermaids and Santa. Both trees have sea critters and shells. This year a lobster and sting ray joined the crabs, turtles and colorful fish.
I have other more traditional decor that we enjoy too. Everything looks better with a little sparkle and some twinkle lights!
I love these trees because of the theme and the colors, but also because they have been assembled over time. Gifts from holidays past, that painful time in 2009 made bearable because of Bluwatermom, and the fun we’ve had finding new additions.
Merry Christmas y’all ~~~
