Today is my favorite holiday 🙂
It’s a 4f holiday ~ family, friends, food and football!
The long weekend has changed over time, but it has always been a welcome break during the hectic fall season. We always have the traditional meal ~ some years with big groups and other times just immediate family. A southern feast with turkey, dressing and all our favorite sides.
Some years we go shopping just for fun, later in the afternoon after the crowd has moved on. Many years we made cookies with my aunt & cousins, but now the families have grown, so we do our own cookies and then share the goodies.
And then there’s football! So many college rivalries this weekend, and an away game for us, so we get to watch from home. Last weekend was our final home game this season, and my college girlfriend weekend. It’s so much fun being with friends who like to laugh at the same silly things. And we have so much history, we have lots to laugh about.
This year is just our small family for Turkey Day. Bluwatermom has everything prepped for her turkey and dressing, and I am casserole girl ~ mac & cheese, sweet potatoes and green beans, with the Barefoot Contessa cranberry conserve we’ve made for years. There will still be PLENTY of leftovers.
I’m thankful for my 4f’s ~ my family, Bluwaterguy, college girlfriend time last weekend, being able to enjoy preparing our delicious dinner with Bluwatermom, and exciting football rivalries this weekend. Oh yeah ~ Gooooo Tigers!
Hope it’s a wonderful Thanksgiving Day for y’all too 🙂
