Come on in ~ I’m building my own perfect beach cottage! Well, at least a miniature version. 🙂
It was Bluwaterguy’s idea. A way to indulge my crafty tendencies, use some of my eightygazillion tear sheet ideas, and practice for the real thing down the future road.
He and his sweet Mom gifted me a miniature cottage kit ~~~ and I had no idea how to even start this project.
So, I started the way I do most puzzles ~ lay out all the pieces, count them to see if any are missing, and look for something that resembles a corner ~ or in this case, a foundation piece.
Oh, and pick paint colors. I am completely obsessed with color, so this could have derailed the whole enterprise as I swung between tropical tiki hues, sunny seaside pastels or bright Caribbean tones. So hard to choose!
Fortunately, I already have my bluwaterlife color palette which JP and I labored over until it was exactly right. So with my palette in hand, I pulled paint chips and bought a bunch of $2.98 custom color samples at Lowe’s. As I was checking out, a fellow in line behind me said, “Well, either you’re having trouble decidin’ on colors or you’re paintin’ a lot of really small rooms”. I laughed and replied, “Both, actually”.
So this will be an on-going project, and posted in multiple parts. I’ve got the construction process figured out now, the foundation assembled, and the cutest fuchsia pink front door in place. I couldn’t resist putting a few pieces on the front porch to sneak a peek of what’s to come. Working on the window assembly now ~ it’s at least 4 dozen tiny pieces!
Now I just need to decide what to name my cottage. Hmmmmm ~~~ ?
Perfect beach cottage construction in progress and updates to follow!
