It’s a college football weekend and dear friends are here to visit! We are all staying at Bluwatermom’s for the weekend and it’s a bit of a reunion with my college room mate and one of our suite mates too. 🙂
The game is tomorrow, but tonight is time to catch up on years past. For cocktail hour we are having Lillet spritzers. They are light and refreshing, so they don’t interfere with dinner.
Lillet is a French apéritif wine, made from blended Bordeaux wines, citrus liqueurs and quinine. There is a white version (Blanc) and a red version (Rouge). It should be well chilled and is great simply served over ice. My White Lillet Cocktail is a concoction based on several different recipes I’ve tried and adjusted for my tastes. You can serve it as a cocktail or add sparkling water and serve as a spritzer. I’ve shown both versions in the photo. These are good pitcher drinks as well. Mix up a pitcher and pour cocktails, or top off the drinks with sparkling water.
White Lillet Cocktail or Spritzer
~ Add ice to a double old fashion glass for a cocktail
~ or a highball glass for a spritzer
~ Pour equal parts White Lillet and ruby red grapefruit juice
~ Mostly fill the cocktail glass or 2/3 fill for the highball glass
~ Add a splash of Cointreau to the glass and stir to mix.
~ Top off the highball glass with sparkling water for a spritzer.
~ Garnish with an orange slice
It’s the start of a great weekend. As we’ve talked and caught up, the years fall away like no time has passed at all. It’s wonderful to be able to share this time with girlfriends and Bluwatermom. Definitely, life enjoyed. 🙂
