burn notice mojitos

“When you’re a spy and you’re burned, you’ve got nowhere to go…”, so it is a good thing Michael Westen has friends like Fiona Glenanne and Sam Axe…though he might not feel that way.  Welcome to Miami.  Welcome to my favorite television show, Burn Notice.
The combination of gorgeous tropical scenery, witty dialogue, more improvised gadgets than McGyver and the smokin’ hot chemistry between Michael & Fiona is irresistable!  Michael’s deadpan humor, Fiona’s talent for explosives, and Sam…well Sam always knows a guy who knows a guy…and it is always entertaining.  I have been hooked since the first episode.
I am suffering tropical withdrawal right now, as season four is over and it is few months yet until season five.  In the meantime, I have three seasons on dvd and feel a weekend marathon coming on to carry me over a bit longer.

I’ve also enjoyed the books by Tod Goldberg. They are pitch perfect….the character voices read dead on. The opening pages of the The End Game are worth the price of admission.  Michael & Fiona are in Target in midtown Miami…and Michael is trying to find a Mother’s Day card for Madeline…while thinking, “being a spy means you never have to be in a T.G.I. Friday’s surrounded by men in Dockers or expressing your emotions through the mystery of Hallmark”.

For my Burn Notice dvd watching marathon, I decided to try a frozen mojito.  They are a departure from the traditional cocktail.  Still with all the required the flavors, but amped up to carry me through three seasons of Miami mayhem.  Sam and I both love a good cocktail…of course, Sam Axe loves any drink as long as someone else is paying.  Here’s the recipe…and just like the traditional mojito, fresh mint is essential.  These are Sam Axe approved.  Dos mojtos, por favor!

Fiona’s Frozen Minty Lime Mojitos
    6 oz frozen limeade concentrate
4 oz white rum  (1 oz shot per drink & 1 oz extra for fun)
3 oz water (half the limeade can)
    12 fresh mint leaves
2 cups of ice (more or less for desired consistency)
Combine in a blender jar and blend until smooth. Makes 3 drinks.
Garnish with lime and fresh mint.
Oh, and some chips & salsa never hurt anyone either….

Invite your friends over for a taste of the tropics….and Fiona, girlfriend, try not to blow anything up!  Bluwatergal
