It’s our Thursday Night Social time 🙂 ~~~
Happy “Friday Eve” ~ hope you’re having a GREAT week! This is my favorite cocktail hour, and here are some things I’ve seen this week that looked especially good for a coastal cottage weekend! We’re having a winter storm with snow and sleet, so anything coastal is calling my name ~ bright sunshine, beach music, faded shorts and tee’s, and my favorite boat shoes.
As usual, let’s start with a cocktail, shall we? Last week, it was all about colorful Caribbean style. This week for a coastal cottage weekend, we need simple drinks ~ just a few ingredients that are easy to mix up on the back porch. I really want to try this non-alcoholic Florida Spritzer ~ from myrecipes.com. Mix and chill the ginger/grapefruit base, and then pour over ice ~ or add some rum or vodka for an adult version. Sounds perfect to me!
Of course my all-time favorite easy cocktail is the Original Boat Drink ~ just Mount Gay rum and tonic, with a lemon twist.
No coastal getaway is complete for Bluwaterguy without some fresh oysters. They’re not really on my menu, but we always go out somewhere so he can order the freshest off the boat ~~~
Classic barbecue is more my coastal style. Served on the traditional white cottony buns with upstate style sauce, and slaw ON the sandwich Carolina style. I come from a serious barbecue eating family, and we’ve done more than our share of butts, shoulders, ribs and whole pigs. Now repeat after me ~ barbecue is slow cooked over low heat, and not on a grill. When you fire up the grill, it’s a cookout, not a barbecue. We’re good on that, right? 🙂
And there is no better coastal cottage spot than a front porch rocker ~~~
Or maybe this this back porch?
And for actual coastal cottages for your own bluwatergetaway, try my friends at Mermaid Cottages on Tybee Island, Georgia. They have cottages to suit any style or group, and most are pet-friendly so your furry family members can come along!
And finally, love this from primitivesbykathy.com It’s one of the things that always comes to mind when I think of coastal cottage time ~~~
Whether you prefer classic seaside, coastal cottage, Caribbean brights or vintage tiki ~ there’s a style for everyone. We’ve been checking them out in our Thursday Night Social this month. I’m looking forward to thawing out, getting out and soaking up some sunshine. And getting my coastal cottage vibe on at the earliest opportunity!
Hope to see you next week for our Thursday Night Social ~~~
