Oh my goodness ~~~ digging around on my book shelves and I found a forgotten treasure!
I’ve had this copy of SHADOW DIVERS nearly ten years, and have recommended it to so many people who love diving or a good adventure. It’s the non-fiction account of two divers who found a sunken WWII U-boat off the coast of New Jersey, and then spent the next seven years identifying and authenticating their find.
It’s completely engrossing from the first pages, and for divers it takes you right along on the bubble trail. Their search costs them dearly in several ways, and gives a great account of what it is like to push yourself beyond barriers you didn’t even know existed.
Here’s the Amazon link. If you haven’t read it, consider it a bargain adventure ~~~ better than any summer blockbuster I’ve seen this year! If you have read it, consider reading it again. There are so many details that are easily missed as you get swept along on the adventure, that for gear heads and dive junkies it is definitely just as good on the second read.
I read five novels on vacation last month, and was resetting my reading stack for the next round. Between reading for work, my book club and for entertainment, there are always more books in waiting than I can count. I was shuffling the pile when this one came to the top. I had pulled it out at one point to re-read and/or write about here on the blog, and it invariably was pushed down in the stack. Then when I found it tonight, it was like finding a summer treasure!
Enjoy your summer adventure and share it with your water or dive loving friends. They will thank you 🙂
