It’s the bluwaterlife second anniversary and I’m so happy to share the new webpage and new connections! When I started this adventure in sharing two years ago, I didn’t know where it would go. It has been wonderful to connect and re-connect with people through bluwaterlife, and to have a place to collect and organize some of my ideas, pictures, projects and travels. The original webpage had been completely outgrown and I am so happy with the new fresher space and new possibilities!
As a veteran of many store openings, photo shoots, special events and project launches, I know the hard work it takes to make something look easy. And I also know that practice can make difficult things go more smoothly, but that doesn’t mean it’s ever really easy.
As a matter of experience, “Oh that’s easy, and all you need to do is just….” are some of the most dangerous words in the English language! I can’t tell you how many times those words have gotten me into something at work or at home, that then almost required extensive and expensive professional help to complete. Often times through sheer stubborn willfulness I have persevered to completion and then vowed “never again”.
I found this quote recently from a favorite writer and thought it perfectly summed up my feelings…”It takes brute effort to achieve the illusion of effortlessness.” John D. MacDonald
Of course there is another favorite writer quote I love, which is…“…to get the full value of joy, you must have somebody to divide it with.” Mark Twain
The combination of these two represent my efforts over the past couple of months as I’ve worked to bring the upgraded bluwaterlife site to reality.
First – the brute effort. “It’s easy! Just use our great import tool, and you’re on your way!” A clue – technology and easy should never be used in the same sentence, and I will spare everyone the rest of my rant on this topic. All I can say is thank heaven for Bluwaterguy and his expertise, or I would still be cursing Blogger and WordPress! Let’s just focus on how happy I am to be at a point where I can publish the new site and look forward to continuing to improve the look and enhance the content.
Second – share the joy. When I look back over things from trips, or parties, or events, I really get to re-enjoy the whole experience. And bluwaterlife gives me a place to share that with friends and family, and new folks I meet along the way. The new site lets me share out in expanded ways too, by linking the bluwaterlife site and new facebook page and my existing twitter account all together. So if facebook limits how much I want to write, the webpage is where I can wordsmith until I am content. Too many pictures to manage on the webpage? Then make a facebook photo album and link it up. Have a quick idea or read something fun and want to share quickly, tweet away on twitter!
Since sharing on social media can quickly become “over sharing”, I will continue to honor my pledge to family and friends not to post their wind-blown good times to the world, and just use photos of scenery or settings…with a few minor exceptions here or there. I hope you like the new look, and continue to enjoy the postings and photos. Give a visit to the facebook page to see more photos and interesting links. If you’re on twitter, I tweet quick bluwater bits and share things from other folks we like. Comment, re-tweet or “like” us back when you see something you enjoy 🙂
It’s the happy second anniversary, of a happy experiment, that has become my happy place for connecting, collecting and sharing. It hasn’t been effortless, but it has been a joy to share. It’s my bluwaterlife.
Enjoy your visit…Bluwatergal
